In late 2014, Styles published his debut album Pink under Columbia Records and Erskine Records, and he grew prominence the following 12 months with the chart-topping singles, “Sign Of The Times” and “Sabotage”. Styles’ reminisced about the rejection of Def Jam Recordings, “It really flustered me, since I bought a plane ticket all the way to New York just to get dismissed”. After Def Jam Recordings rejected Styles, and cancelled his contract due to behavioral deficiencies, he showed 3 demo tracks off his Pink album to Sony/ATV Music Publishing, and that was where Styles signed a joint deal with Columbia Records (later launching his exclusive label Erskine Records under Columbia Records). Harold had given up college at The University Of Middlesex in 2013, and moved away.
